Roy
Kinslow Scholarship Awarded
Michelle Lawrence is the 2013 recipient of the Southwest
Chapter's Roy Kinslow Scholarship award of $1,000. She is
enrolled in Southeastern Oklahoma University's Department of
Occupational Safety & Health.
Michelle is the mother of four children, ages 21, 18, 12 and 8
years old. She is employed at Delaware North Companies, where
she is a food & beverage supervisor. In spite of her busy
schedule, she managed to earn two A's and two B's in her recent
semester's coursework. In 2008, she volunteered in a
construction program in Biloxi, MS, which introduced her to the
field of occupational safety and health, and generated her
desire to pursue a degree program. Michelle plans to join
the construction or oil and gas industry upon graduation in
December 2013.
The chapter's scholarship award is administered by the ASSE
Foundation, which distributes 102 other scholarships and grants
annually. Five other students at Southeastern Oklahoma
also received stipends awarded by other organizations.
